Kaoru Takara

Dr. Takara is a professor at Kyoto University, Japan since 1998. He joined international research activities such as IDNDR (International Decade for Natural Disaster Reduction) in 1994, UNESCO-IHP (International Hydrological Programme) in 1996, and JASTIP (Japan-ASEAN Science, Technology and Innovation Platform) in 2015. He also established UNESCO Chair WENDI (Water, Energy and Disaster Management) in Kyoto University in April 2018, serving as the Chairholder. His major includes hydrology, disaster management, extreme-value statistics, remote sensing and GIS. He has been implementing transdisciplinary research and education activities at graduate schools in the university.
