True Cooperation Group together with UNESCO Bangkok, National Science Museum Thailand (NSM), Thai National Defense College (NDC), the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, and the faculty of Veterinary Science, Chulalongkorn University arranged “the 16th True Young Producer awards” competition in the theme of “Be conscious in using plastic for the benefit of all creatures and the environment”. The competition encouraged universities and college students all over Thailand to form a team and share their creativity on how to become responsible and sustainable in a plastic consumption society. After that, bring the idea to produce a short advertising film (up to 60 seconds) to raise awareness of the importance of sustainable environmental conservation and nature balancing among the society of the general public.
The competition started from July 1 – December 15, college students more than 6oo teams from 53 universities from all over Thailand participate in the competition. Over 5 months of the competition, the committees had selected the best 11 teams to present the idea of their short film in the final round competition which was held on last Tuesday at True Digital Park. At the event, all young creative and producers present their ideas in the film that intend to raise the awareness of the general public to reduce- reuse- recycle, and upcycling plastic, and spark the idea of responsible plastic consumption through their film. And the winner of the competition this year is ‘Hen na ei ei’ from the Faculty of Arts, Silpakorn University. Their short film tells the story of two teenagers who compare plastic consumption behavior in our society to drug addiction. It’s hard to cut this bad habit out completely in one day, but if we start to skip it-say no to plastic, reduce the using amount, eventually our society can live without plastic. We all need to change our behavior together for a better and healthier environment.
The winner of the competition received the royal trophy from Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, 50,000 Baht scholarship, and a field trip to Japan. The first runner-up received the trophy from the ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and all the final 11 teams were awarded the PAX Plastic Bin from UNESCO. All final 11 short films will be broadcast on the True ID channel and on every True online platform.
